So, you’ve installed Photoshop updates and suddenly your Wacom pen doesn’t work anymore OR even worse you try to enlarge an image and Photoshop just fucks up the image making your creation look like a rainbow… No worries, here’s the solution for both those problems.
So, the first problem with the Wacom pen/stylus not working properly is quite an easy fix. For me the problem was that i couldn’t change the size or softness of the brush all Photoshop wanted was to sample colors.
Well, easy peacy just do like this and the problem will be solved!
1 – Close Photoshop if it’s running
2 – Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
Type in the following lines:
# Use WinTab
3 – Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\. If you can’t find the folder you might need to show hidden files and folders in Windows.
4 – Start Photoshop again AND GET YOUR ASS BACK TO WORK!
Second problem, enlarging an image making it look like a rainbow (or just a fucking mess of colored squares) took me a while to find the solution for and it goes like this.
1 – In Photoshop go to EDIT -> PREFERENCES -> PERFORMANCE
2 – In the top right corner it says “GRAPHICS PROCESSOR SETTINGS” click on Advanced settings and uncheck “USE OPEN CL”
3 – Click OK in all windows and restart Photoshop
4 – GET BACK TO WORK!
I hope these tips helped out, like i said it took me a while to find the solutions and i thought i’d do the world a favor and put them on my blogg.
I’m not sure if this is because of Windows 10 or if it’s something that comes with the updates from ADOBE but i suspect it’s a windows problem, at least the pen issue since it seems like the wacom drivers conflicts with the windows drivers for their own Microsoft surface pen.
I wish one day Photoshop will work with some distribution of Linux so i can abandon windows since i’m not a fan of Windows 10 or MAC OS…
